Starting strength training for the first time can be scary and overwhelming. It was for us!

We know from our own beginnings into strength training and the years that we have trained others, that it is essential that a course meet YOU where you are rather than the other way around. There really aren’t any programs out there that do that nor any programs for beginners to strength.

In fact, as fitness professionals, we know that NONE of our colleagues has created a course like FAB just for beginners.

This is why we, the founders of Straight of Strong, Tina Tang and Michelle Farrell, have created a beginners only LIVE online 6 week course.

This is for YOU if you are:

👉🏼 A busy woman (or non-binary human) who always puts yourself on the back burner, taking care of everyone and everything else first.

👉🏼 Experiencing peri-menopause or entered menopause and feel like your body, sleep, & energy levels have changed?

👉🏼 Never held a dumbbell or it’s been years since you’ve felt that weight in your hands?

👉🏼 Feel uncomfortable and/or anxious in a gym because of feeling judged for your body or for being a beginner? Do you dislike the atmosphere of a studio or fitness class that is dripping in diet messaging where you just want to reward your body not punish it?

👉🏼 Look at the free weights in a gym and panic because you just don’t know what to do with them?

👉🏼 Have tried to start strength training but gave up.

👉🏼 Your doctor told you it’s time to incorporate strength work into your routine but you don’t know where to start or even what that means?

👉🏼 Have a history of injuries and/or aches and pains that have prevented you from training in the past?

So, we created a fitness experience to welcome busy women & non-binary folks over 40 to strength training. The course is a doable 6 weeks meeting once a week where we cover one of the big 6 strength foundation moves. During that session, the class also does a workout together.

We want you to feel FAB and confident using your body and strength equipment and know that it can be intimidating so we’ll be by your side in this super intimate, 6 week online coaching experience starting March 8, 2023!

Coach Tina & Coach Michelle

What will happen in the 6 weeks:

  • Weekly 40 minute small group live training sessions led by Coach Tina or Coach Michelle. Each session we will go over 1 of the 6 essential strength moves which will be incorporated into your beginner, dumbbell and body weight based workouts.

  • Learn how to do exercises that fall under the Big 6 fundamental strength movements: Squat, Lunge, Hinge, Push, Pull and Carry.

  • Between the teaching sessions, you will be given full body strength workouts weekly delivered via an app that you can access right on your phone. Videos of the exercises and detailed instructions are provided in the app. All you need is your body, a chair or bench, dumbbells!

  • Text, picture and video message access with your coaches in the special beginner online app.

How you’ll feel after 6 Weeks of FAB:

  • Confident and comfortable to walk into any group fitness class or fitness space armed with knowledge about the 6 big lifts and variations that work for your body!

  • Go from zero strength training to knowing what exercises to do every week and how to do them.

  • Excited to keep going in your strength training These six weeks are just the beginning for you and your training adventures. Think of FAB as your prerequisite course, laying a solid foundation for this life long habit.

FAQs

 

What Equipment Do I Need?

We know that you may not have a large and varied selection of equipment at your finger tips and for this purpose we’ll be focusing a lot of the foundational movement patterns utilizing body weight and light dumbbells (5-10 pounds) for now. Access to a sturdy chair or bench is also needed as a support and “prop”

If you have resistance bands or loops, those can be a bonus but are not required for this programming.

When Are the Live Training Sessions?

Live Sessions are Wednesdays at 7:00 pm EST, for 6 weeks. While we highly encourage you attending the live sessions, we understand life happens and our goal is for you to be consistent AF over the six weeks so a recording will be sent after the sessions so you can make it up on your time.

Will I Lose Weight?

Maybe. But we do not focus on weight loss. We believe that all bodies are good bodies and that weight loss does not always equate to health. Instead, we focus on behaviors and habits that we can sustainably implement into our lives to support us in being strong, mobile, and as healthy as possible, mind, body and soul, as we age.

What If After the First Week I Realize This Isn’t For Me?

Our goal is to support you implement strength training into your life. If after a week you decide this isn’t the right fit for you, we will honor a refund (minus the service fees) however, since we are limiting the spots for this cohort to 10 folks, please be thoughtful when registering and make an informed enrollment decision. Please reach out with any questions and/or to set up a call with Michelle or Tina to discuss if FAB is the best fit for you!

Is There a Meal Plan?

Nope. It is not in a personal trainer’s scope of practice to give out individualized meal plans or even a group “prescribed” meal plan so it would be unethical for us to do so. However, Coach Michelle is a certified nutrition coach and asking questions is highly encouraged!

What Is the Time Requirement?

The live training sessions are once a week for 40 minutes. So bare minimum an hour a week. However, there is also an additional “homework” sessions: an on your own workout programmed in our app to practice what you learned in the live session. You will have support with this workout in the app from your coaches between live sessions! The more you interact with your coaches in True Coach, the more enhanced experience you will have and more likely lead you an overall more successful and consistent experience!
